If you make any mistakes just reload the form and begin editing again. Press PgDn Drawing Lines Move the cursor to the '1' below. Press F3 twice. Move the cursor to the '2' below. Press F4 twice. Move the cursor to the '3' below. Press F3, enter a 2, press F3 again. Move the cursor to the '4' below. Press F4 twice. F3 marks the starting point of a line using the cursor position. By moving the cursor to a new position, either on the same line or column and using F4, you draw a line. Note that two line styles are supported. Now press F3, enter 3, and press F3 again. Move to the other end of the line and press F4 twice. This is how to erase lines. Press PgDn Boxes Move the cursor to the '1' below, press F3, enter 2, and press F3 again. Move the it to the '2' and press F4 twice. Now move it to the '3' and press F4 twice again. Boxes are drawn instead of lines if the cursor is in a different row AND column while using F4 than it was when you used F3. Note how the editor will attempt to connect all lines and boxes which meet, even those of different styles. To erase, press F3, enter 3, and press F3. Then move to the opposite corner of the box and press F4 twice. Removal of the remaining half box is left as an exercise. Press PgDn The shifted function keys will type parts of boxes and lines. To view these press F1 (see SPECIAL BORDER CHARACTERS), then ESC to return here. You can draw a box using only the shift-function keys (but F3 and F4 are much faster). Likewise, you can use the control-function keys to draw double line boxes and lines. The only item not provided by the function keys are crossing lines, ' ' and ' '. You must use the F2 menu and F10 to draw these characters (Lesson 4). Using Special Attributes Press F8. Move the cursor to the '1' below, press F3, enter 1, and press F3 again. Move the cursor to the '2' below and press F4 twice. Drawing a box or line always uses the current attribute. Erase always clears to the background portion of the current attribute. Press PgDn Putting a Border Around Your Form Use the HOME key to position the cursor to line 1, column 1. Then use F3 to mark the starting point. Move the cursor to the last line and column of your form and use F4 to place a border around your form. Make sure you have no text on the first and last lines, or on the first and last columns as these characters will be overwritten. End of Lesson 3 ed when you're executing the form. Use F2 to define other attributes. Use F7 to switch to white characters on a black background, F8 to switch to black on white, and F9 to switch to the attribute defined by F2 menu.
